The Vietnam War

Australia enters - 1962

‘Location of some major units’
This map, published between 1962 and 1964 shows Australia’s involvement in Vietnam during this early period to have been limited to the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam. The presence in Malaya of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR), which was at the time a far larger deployment than that in Vietnam, related to the final period of Australia’s involvement in the Malayan Emergency.
